Caribbean tagging season underway on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica

TLT’s “Into the Unknown” satellite telemetry campaign launched this May following the tagging of ten nesting leatherback females in Limon Province with Wildlife Computers transmitters. Each tag will reveal migration routes, foraging grounds, and behavior once these females leave the nesting beach, data that’s critical for understanding threats these turtles face across their full range, not just on the sand. The campaign carries personal weight too: donors who named individual turtles have been getting updates as the tags report in.
