In a rapidly changing world, conservation decisions matter most when they endure. Since 2000, The Leatherback Trust has been protecting critically endangered sea turtle populations in western Costa Rica through rigorous science, local partnership, and field-based action.

Our Impact

Research
We monitor nesting beaches, facilitate hatchling success, and support global scientists who advance our understanding of marine biology and conservation.

Community
We work hand-in-hand with local community on conservation management, while connecting international volunteers to active and exciting field science. We ensure protection efforts are led by the people who call these coastlines home.

Education
Equipping communities and schools with knowledge and tools, while mentoring the next generation of sea turtle biologists and conservationists.

Protection
We operate biological field stations at key nesting and foraging sites. Our advocacy continues to promote balanced coastal development that preserves critical coastal habitats.

Why Your Support Matters

Supporting The Leatherback Trust is a choice to invest in proven, long-term impact. By strengthening academic research, protecting habitats through advocacy, and rooting conservation in local communities, your contribution ensures that today’s protections endure for decades to come.

Every donation directly supports sea turtle survival. Their future is in our hands.
